My Coffee Chat with Martin Parnell, Canada Quest For Kids

Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting Martin Parnell. Martin is an international speaker and author who is currently driving through Canada raising money for Right to Play.

He is doing 10 quests to raise $1 million for the charity and this is his last quest. He is driving from Squamish, British Columbia to Sackville, New Brunswick in 26 days while attempting to break 10 records at 10 universities across the country. Some of the records include: the biggest game of volleyball and the biggest game of quidditch.

I got in contact with Martin through Ten Thousand Coffees, which is a website that “connects students, recent grads, and young professionals with leaders and established professionals over a cup of coffee to share insights and spark ideas that will plant the seeds of future opportunities”.

Being a keynote speaker, completing 250 marathons in a year and cycling through Africa, our chat was more inspiring than I could have ever imagined. We talked about his experiences, along with what I personally had planned for the future, including this blog.

The next day, Martin was playing the biggest game of European Handball at Wilfred Laurier University. I wasn’t able to make it to the event, but they successfully broke the record! You can read more about the events and follow Martin on his blog.

Ten Thousand Coffees is a wonderful idea and I am very thankful that they made this possible, and to Martin for taking a few minutes out of his busy schedule to meet. I would definitely recommend that any young Canadians take a look at the site and the experts listed, because you never know who you’ll find.
